Needles from the Haystack #4 – 2/2018

Needles from the Haystack

Hi There,

I’ve been commuting to work by train in the last month.

I would have missed a puzzling fight between people with substance problems, a lady that started puking next to me out of nowhere and a good amount of content if I didn’t.

This month is all about podcasts and videos. But great ones, I promise!

I hope you had a great start into 2018!

I did. But I wish for more feedback on the newsletter and more subscribers. If you like what I do, you know what you could do for me. I’d highly appreciate it!

See you in February!

Getting Things Done To Clear The Space For Creative Work – David Allen @ Love Your Work – Podcast

David Allen is the man behind „Getting Things Done“. The book sold millions of copies because it was one of the very first books that had a whole productivity system behind it. One that people could actually follow. Take this interview as an introduction to the GTD method. And if you like it, get the book afterwards and stuff finally done.

Principles For Investing In A Meaningful Life – Ray Dalio @ James Altucher Show

Ray Dalio is a multi-billionaire hedge-fund manager. And he wrote a book about principles. Having principles was his key to success in the financial world AND to living a fulfilled life. This interview is 20% about economics and 80% about life choices. And it truly amazed me. There’s a lot about life to be learned from Ray Dalio and his principles!

Simon Sinek’s Top 10 Rules For Success – Created by Evan Carmichael

This video is a compilation of 10 talks that Simon Sinek gave over the years. There’s great advice in here with regard to decision-making, mindset and motivation. If you don’t know Simon Sinek at all, you’ll want to watch this. It also includes his full famous TED – talk on “Start With Why”.

How The Economic Machine Works – Ray Dalio

This is a real gem: 30 minutes of animated video later, you will understand economics better than 80% of people. I have a master degree in economics and yet learned something from it. Especially in the later part. But don’t be scared if you don’t have a clue about economics. The video starts with the very basics and eases you into the big picture. Must watch!

The Change Artist – A.J. Jacobs @ Waking Up – Podcast

A.J. Jacobs does weird-sounding life-experiments and writes funny books about his experiences. Like living in literal accordance with the bible for 1 year. He has a lot of good stories to tell. They’re good, because they are both, educational and entertaining. This is a great episode to listen to if you need to get something else out of your head.
